Accessibility Tools

We are committed to providing an accessible experience for everyone. If you have questions, or need accommodations not listed below, please contact Todd Oberndorfer at 801-535-6512 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please reach out no later than 48 hours prior to your visit to the festival so our team can coordinate.

Restrooms
Portable toilets, including accessible units, are located on the southeast side of the City & County Building and the south side of Library Square near the Leonardo Museum.

If you cannot use a portable restroom, you can find accessible restrooms in the Library during their operating hours.

ADA Seating Area
All 3 stages have designated ADA seating. Signage will indicate designated seating.

Due to the design of the Amphitheater, ADA seating is the back row. The remaining Amphitheater seating requires stairs to access.

ADA Drop Off / Parking
Individuals can be dropped off next to the South Entrance, located on 500 South at 200 East.

There is limited parking throughout the surrounding blocks in pay lots and metered stalls, some of which have accessible parking spots. Please note that Living Traditions does not provide designated festival parking for the public attending the festival.

Mobility / Pathways
The majority of the festival is connected by paved and/or compacted pathways. Some areas of both Washington and Library Square have uneven surfaces such as grass. Library Square has some loose/uneven stones attendees should be aware of.

The dining tent is on grass and may not be accessible to all attendees. A ramp, located in the middle of the Food Market, connects 200 E to the dining tent.

Curb cuts and ramps allow access on/off of 200 East in multiple locations.

The Library has an elevator to access the lower level classrooms being used for festival workshops.

Service Animals
Service animals are welcome. You may be approached by festival staff or security and asked the questions outlined in the ADA.

The ADA does not include emotional support animals in their definition of service animals. Although ESAs can provide support, they do not meet the legal requirements of service animals.

Service animals must be with their handler at all times, be under control, and housebroken. If a service animal becomes a disturbance, you may be asked to leave.

Living Traditions is hot, crowded, and loud, with a wide variety of performances and music. Please plan accordingly to ensure your service animal is prepared for a potentially stressful environment.

Service animal handlers must clean up after their animals.

Sensory Space
A sensory space is located outside of the East Entrance on Library Square.

The sensory space includes comfortable seating, a quiet space, and sensory-friendly items such as noise cancelling headphones and fidget toys.

Wheelchair Check Out
A limited number of wheelchairs will be available on site for attendees to use. If you would like to borrow a wheelchair during your festival visit, please visit the Info Booth once you arrive. Wheelchairs are available on a first come, first served basis.

Interpretation Services
Spoken Language interpretation services and translated maps are available at the info booth.

ASL interpretation services will be provided at all food demonstrations and the following performances:

  • Pamyua - Friday at 8:30 PM at the North Stage.
  • Intercultural Drum Exhibition - Saturday at 3:30 PM at the North Stage.
  • Preservation Hall Jazz Band - Saturday at 8:30 PM at the North Stage.
