Saturday 

Henna Art with Tasneem Abhijith
12:30 PM in Classroom B
Henna is an ancient and widely used dye but is strongly associated with the body art tradition of mehndi in India. It is a particularly important art form for Indian families and festivals. In this workshop, participants will learn traditional Indian henna designs and how to work with the dye in creating the patterns.

Alebrijes with America Cuevas Vasquez
12:30 PM in Classroom C
Alebrijes are brightly colored folk art sculptures depicting fantastical animals and creatures, originating in Mexico in the 1930s. They are often made from papier-mâché but can also be carved from wood. Participants in this workshop will learn about the history and importance of alebrijes while making their own unique sculpture.

Afghan Jewelry with Ezatullah Arif
2 PM in Classroom A
Jewelry making in Afghanistan is deeply rooted in traditional culture, making use of a variety of stones, gemstones, and metal to create bold designs. This workshop will introduce participants to the craft of Afghan jewelry making through earrings, bracelets, and suncatchers.

Sunday 

Village Fabric Dolls with Irene Pruss
1 PM in Classroom A
Village Fabric Dolls are traditional Russian fabric dolls made with no sewing or scissors, using fabric and thread to create figures. The dolls are made for a number of purposes, often as guardians or gifts for young families. This workshop will teach the basics of creating these dolls and the traditions behind them and their use.
