The Salt Lake City Arts Council’s Public Art Program is excited to announce the selection of four Utah-based artists—Jann Haworth, Lenka Konopasek, Trent Call, and Jason Manley —for the Unifying Artworks for Parks, Trails, and Open Spaces Bond Sites public art project. This public art commission is part of a larger reimagining of Salt Lake City’s natural spaces, made possible by the voter-approved Parks, Trails & Open Space General Obligation (GO) Bond. For Call, Haworth, and Manley, this marks their first commission with the Salt Lake City Public Art Program.
The artists were recommended by the Salt Lake Art Design Board and approved by Mayor Erin Mendenhall in Spring 2025. Eligible artists were drawn from the 2023–2025 Pre-Qualified Artist Pool. Through this project, the Public Lands Department and the Public Art Program seek to unify GO Bond sites across the city, strengthening connections between parks, trails and open spaces through art.
Each artist will create a sculptural model that will be fabricated into five bronze or steel replicas, producing a total of 20 sculptures. These artworks will be installed across all seven City Council Districts, encouraging residents to explore Salt Lake City’s parks and natural spaces while discovering artworks that connect and celebrate its green spaces.
The selected proposals highlight a creative celebration of nature – embracing its joy, playfulness, and capacity to inspire wonder, peace, and belonging. Together, they reflect the defining elements of Salt Lake City’s parks, trails, and landscapes. Installation is anticipated to begin in Summer 2026 and and will proceed in phases until all Bond-funded projects are complete.
The Unifying Artworks public art project is possible through the GO Bond’s allocation of 1.5% for public art. The Public Art GO Bond funding will also support site-specific artist commissions for Glendale Park, the Fleet Block Public Open Space, Warm Springs & North Gateway Parks, and Donner Trail Park.
